Some riders, like my husband have been riding all winter. I am always amazed when he rides to work and it is only 15 degrees outside. He does have great riding gear, but not heated gear. He rides about 13 miles each way to work, mostly at slower speeds, but still it's 15 degrees. There are inherent risks with riding in Colorado in the Winter or Spring time. It may be clear but cold in the morning and by 3:30 there could be a blizzard blowing. Some people may find a ride home if there is a blizzard, but no, more than one rider has said: "I will be fine, it’s not really sticking to the road yet". I will leave the whole story for Wayne to tell at the campout, after all that is what great stories are made of. Let me just say from the wives' point of view that I really wanted to slap him in the back of the head when I got home.
So here we are at the beginning of another Spring riding season for us (unlike Wayne) mere mortal riders. Today the weather is pretty nice, 60 degrees, light wind. It is great riding weather, and yet the garden is calling, the spring cleaning is calling, the mundane things of life that have been shoved to the background to an extent since we started riding 5 years ago, are calling. We have to make choices and sacrifices. Today we will do the mundane things, and plan some of the upcoming adventures on the motorcycles. The entry form for the mileage contest is in this month's MOA magazine. The ride to Taos is a day away. The club camp out is coming in a few weeks, and before you know it the trek to the MOA rally in Oregon will be looming. There will be lots of opportunity for riding, with the club or on our own in the coming sunny months. So for today I will go dig in the dirt, plant vegetables that may or may not get harvested on time, and clean up the front flower beds. After all, the weather does not always cooperate for all outdoor activities. It could be snowing and 30 degrees next week. If it does, I will be enjoying my my new car with heated seats, and Wayne will probably be out riding in another blizzard.
