Hot Rumor Department

I was at the shop yesterday, watching as they rolled H-D after H-D out into the parking lot and looking over the very small collection of BMW's in the showroom, when I heard a statement from one of the employee's.  They said that they were going to move the Motorsports dealership over to the Powers location.  They already own the building, it is already set up as a motorcycle dealership, there would be more room for bikes and accessories, and it would end the growsing over the H-D dominance of the shop.

And, it would mean that I wouldn't have to listen to all those loud pipes every time we are in the shop for service or parts.

Could it happen?  Will it happen?  Who knows, but it would certainly be an improvement.

Two-fer at the Awards Stand

Cycle World just gave out their 10 Best Bikes awards and the K1600GT won Best Sport-Touring Bike of 2011 and the K1600GTL won Best Touring Bike of 2011.  Here's the sad part:  The S1000RR was beat out for best Sport Bike only by including a handmade, pre-production version of Eric Buell's latest attempt to ressurect his line of bikes:  A $40,000 bike!  Here's what Cycle World said:

"The K1600GT’s torque-monster inline-Six and superbly comfortable, easy-steering chassis have changed the very idea of what sport-touring can be. If you don’t have the money, consider selling a kidney."

"It’s one thing to win the game; it’s something else altogether to change the rules. But that’s what BMW’s new K1600GTL has done to the world of two-wheel touring. It’s no small feat to trump the revered Gold Wing in this category; but with its 11.2-second quarter-mile zip, near-sportbike-quality handling, electronically adjustable suspension and windshield, adaptive headlight that illuminates around corners, Bluetooth wireless capability, detachable luggage and utter ease of operation, the six-cylinder Beemer puts the Wing on the trailer. And from this point forward, anyone who believes that over-the-road luxury and thrilling high performance are mutually exclusive is...well, wrong.

Big Changes at Pikes Peak Motorsports

All,

First the new HD/BMW manager is Scott Mann. Very Personable young man and wants to meet the "BMW" Folks!  He is brand new and and asked a lot of questions about us "PPBMWR"! Some I could answer some I couldn't and some need to be answered by the club "Officials"! They were all Positive questions.  He told e he is in need of Passionate BMW sales person/manager and asked if we had anybody that had a passion for BMW motorcycles that would like the Job!  He said he would send me the advertisement soon to share with the club.  Scott told me that we were more than welcome to have our bulletin board in the store.  In fact corporate BMW is coming to the the dealership tomorrow to re-think/model/ sale the BMW product with Scott and his staff. Scott also offered one of their existing closed-circuit TVs to use in the re-arranged "BMW" sales area and wants our bulletin board in a more prominent area for more exposure.  So he asked us to hold off on the Digital Picture frame till after the re-arrangement of the BMW sales area.   I will send updates as I get them.

Only one downer.  Someone called Paul (719-265-5635) put a bike advertisement on our bulletin board.  The policy (Dealership) still remains: no selling of bikes on the bulletin board Please. I saw it. I took it down. If it is yours call me at 719-494-4962 and I will bring your concern to the PPBMWR officers.

Thanks,

Roland Cooper
